Jacob got all A's this last trimester in fifth grade. He has done a very good job and set some high goals for himself the last part of the school year. He got an award for Excellence in Education Presidential Award.
Mark got a very cool award at the Sports Banquet the other night. He received All -conference, and All-State in wrestling. Their track team won a State Championship. The last time Lovell got a first at state was in 1995. Then to top it all off, he was awarded the 2011-2012 Senior Athlete of the Year for Lovell High School. This doesn't happen very often for a wrestler. Usually the basketball players get the award. Cool. There were a number of boys who could have easily been chosen for this award, this has been a great class. Daniel told me that the coaches all got together to choose and had a healthy discussion.

5th Grade Field Trip
We went to the Thermopolis Hot Springs pool to go swimming. This is Jacob last field trip in elementary school. Mothers don't get invited to go on field trips in middle school so I though I should go on this one. I think this is the only field trip I have been on with Jacob because I was always working at the Printing business. I am glad I got to be there with him.
The place was packed with end of the year field trip students. We saw about 10 buses there. It was crazy! Jacob was kind enough to go on the slides with me. I kind of got stuck on the inside slide towards the bottom. I am sure it was because my swimming suit wasn't slick enough. It couldn't be anything else ;)

Here comes Jacob out of the inside slide.
Here we are just getting ready to climb the hill for the outside slide. It was a freezing cold day and started raining on us after a while. I had a good time going on this slide with his teacher Ann Hinckley.
Jacob is getting ready to hit the bottom. I am really glad that this is a hot springs swimming pool on such a cold day. We just tried to stay in the water.
Jacob is eating lunch with his friend Austin. They are good boys.

Mark's Graduation - Class of 2012
Getting ready to present the graduating class of 2012! From left to right: Supt. Coe, Chad Lindsay, Rebecca Moncur, Marianne Grant, (speaking) Principal Scott O'Tremba, (behind him) Bruce Jolley, Tracy Beal, Matt Bassett and Dan Anderson
Jacob, Mark and Grandma Grant
Graduating Senior Mark Robertson Grant

Here he is at the Grad Night Out Party. He said the grossest thing he had to eat was the fruitcake. He didn't have a problem eating the bugs.
It was so nice to have Lucas, Shanae and Connor home with us along with Rachael, Eli and Eve. They made the trip to Casper to watch Mark in the State Track meet and then came one home to be there for his Seminary Graduation and High School Graduation. Mark is the Seminary president so he got to speak. It was sure nice to have the family support.

State Track Champions
Both the boys and girls track teams won their respective State Championships! The girls got 108 points and the next closest team was 78.5. The girls were actually behind going into the afternoon of the last day but we knew that our best races were coming up in the 200, where Kim took first, the 400 where Kim took first, Susie took second and Erin took 5th. Then after that was the 4 X 400 relay where the Lovell team consisting of Kim, Susie, Amanda and Erin smashed both the school and the state record. They ran an incredible 3.59.
On the boys side of things the Bulldog track team won by an amazing 140.5 and the next closest team was 76. Wow. This is especially cool because there were only two first place finished. Collin McArthur won the 800 and Cody Savage won the triple jump. The rest of the points were hard work and determination. Mark got 4th in his 300 meter hurdles. Nathan got sixth. Yea!

The 4 X 100 relay did a great job. They didn't really think they would make it to state but ended up taking fourth. Way to pick up some points boys!

Graduation Announcement!
This is the front of Mark's High School Graduation announcement. Randy took the photo for him out in the sand hills behind Cowley somewhere. I designed them and sent them off to a company out of Idaho and they turned out pretty nice. They were only $80 for 250 of them and that included it being a rush order and shipping. Most of the announcements we are getting have been done individually. This is an interesting trend.
We wanted people to know Mark a little better and so we put pictures on the back of the card that showcased his Senior year. I like looking at these and remembering what a great time he had.

Bob, Grandma Flash, Mark, Erin and Susie and celebrating after the Senior Awards Banquet. All of these kiddo's got some nice scholarships. Mark and Susie are headed down to the University of Wyoming and Erin is going to Northwest College. It's been pretty cool to have cousins in the same class with Mark. They all get really good grades and are incredibly talented in athletics. They have been really fun to watch grow up.

Regional Track Champions!
Both the Lovell Bulldog and the Lovell Lady Bulldog teams took first at the regional tournament that was held in Riverton over the past weekend. The boys won by over 100 points and the girls won by over 70. These are a great bunch of athletes!
Mark got four medals and four races to run at the State meet in Casper next weekend. He got third in the 300 hurdles, fourth in the 100 meter dash, his 4 X100 relay team took fourth and the 4 X 400 relay team took second. Mark ran his best 400 meters in his life for that relay. Way to go Mark!
Here he is on the awards stand for the 300 meter hurdles. Mark got third, Nathan got fifth and McKayan got seventh. That makes three bulldogs going to state. Hopefully they will pick up some points.
This is a video of Mark running the 100 meter final. He is going to work on getting out of the blocks faster for next week. His finals run was only the second time he has run the 100 meters.

HS Concert
The concert on Tuesday night was just so much fun! The swing choir did a number of songs that I hadn't heard before that were fantastic. The first on was 'Little Red Riding Hood' done by the boys. They got Ms. Camp up and sang to her. I could tell they were all a little nervous about that, especially Brigham. Go here to watch it on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxP622rn5Sk&feature=youtu.be
Another song that was done very nicely was 'Remember Me'. http://youtu.be/GnzJbcLsSYM
The Swing Choir also sang 'The Prayer of the Children'.http://youtu.be/6xEAkgFd-Yg

Lovell's Prom Pictures
Mark and Leslie during the Grand March at the Hyart. I really liked having the grand march there. Everyone could see and get some good pictures of the kids. Lovell's prom was held at the community center this year but the grand march was held at the Hyart.
The big group of boys. They are all looking pretty cool.
I'm not sure why they are all looking so very tough, but tough they are! When Mark gets tough looking he purses his lips just like Rachael does when she gets mad. That makes me giggle a little. The big group all together. Notice the crowns on Susie and Mandy. Susie was the senior class prom queen and Mandy was the junior class first attendant. So lovely.
Mark and Leslie in the front hallway of our home. I need to check the background next time before I get the picture. I should have shut the door to the freezer and moved the shoes that are on the stairs behind their heads. Oh well.
The Lobby of the Hyart. Kids are getting all lined up and waiting for their turn.
More instructions for the first couple. The dresses were beautiful. Some more modest than others but all the girls were lovely.
