Albuquerque

Spike and I made a quick trip to Albuquerque in June. I hadn't blogged it because I didn't get very many pictures. Spike needed to take some time off or lose it so we took five days and just went. Jared looks great and we had a good time with him. Summer was just beginning here but was in full swing down there. Jared's swamp cooler was not working so that was on the top of Spike's to-do list. I got his lawn mowed and some flowers planted. We will see if they will be able to thrive in the heat and sun of Albuquerque. Jared gave me a strange look when I came back for the store with a tomato plant and some pepper plants. He's not much of a vegetable eater. It sounds like they are doing the best of all that I planted. I didn't even know you could get heat resistant plants, but I did.

We were planning on going to the temple but it was closed for cleaning. Rats. We did, however, get out and have a nice stroll around it. It is such a beautiful building and the spirit had such a calming effect on us even though we didn't get to go in.

The drive takes about fifteen hours. I am happy to report that we enjoyed each others company immensely. Jacob stayed home because he thought that would just be torture to be in the car for thirty hours. I didn't mind a bit. Here is a special shout out to every one who let Jacob stay overnight with them. He was very happy to see us very early Sunday morning.

Don't you just love the way everyone does their landscaping there? Not much grass going on if you can help it.

Ryan and Amanda Clark

My niece, Amanda, married my nephew, Ryan on Friday. Ryan is Spike's sister's son. Amanda is my sister Joyce's daughter. This is a win win situation for us. Only in a small town;)

Dreams

I went back on the low carb diet in all seriousness this time ...again. Like no cheating. Then I dreamed of garlic bread and a huge bowl of skittles. That's just wrong.

Jacob climbs Veedawoo!

A summer trip to Laramie isn't complete without going to climb the rocks at Veedawoo. We snuck out of Rachael's house, kidnapped Eve and met up with Brad and Gwen. The weather was lovely and just breezy enough. Eve is quite the little hiker.

Laramie trip

We finally got to see little Leah Elizabeth. She is beautiful! Coming to Laramie in the summer is great. There is not a better place for weather right here, right now. We took some pictures in Rachael's backyard.

Let it rain!

We live in a desert. I like living in a desert. A few days ago we got a huge cloudburst. This was probably the most severe one we had for five years. The weird thing is that we keep getting more rain everyday since then. Weird!

This is second street in front of our house. The water came past our lawn for another foot. It completely covered the road, the sidewalks and beyond. The current in the gutter was amazing especially when we wanted to go 'upstream'.
