Halloween Pumpkins

This one is Jacob's pumpkin.  We didn't think it worked out very well until we got it out to the porch and lit the candle.  I really like it.
Spike was a party pooper this year and so I got to do his pumpkin.  I tried my hand at some sculpture techniques.  Hmmm. I think I need better tools and some talent would be good.
This one is mine.  I think it turned out really scary.  The picture below shows you a little better what the pumpkins looked like to begin with.

This was not Jacob's favorite part of the job.  His pumpkins was pretty juicy and stringy.  Gross.

We had only about 25 trick or treaters this year.  Thanks to Devin and Kynstyl for bringing over their kiddos.  Also a big thanks to Daniel Jay and Amanda for coming all the way from Cowley.  Cute kids.  We don't live in the popular part of town...populated...anyway, so I took Jacob and his friend Mat over to Circle drive where all the kids show up to do most of the trick or treating.  I wish I had thought to take a picture of the kids on horseback that were roaming the streets in the dark.  Wondering just how safe that was.

Halloween Party!

Jacob's fifth grade party was a huge success!!  There was tons of food, most of it quite healthy, lots of fun games and, of course, the awesome costumes!
Here is Jacob is his costume.  Can you guess what he is?  A psychopath of course.  He has on a Quiet Oaks Sanitarium strait jacket.  He is patient number 0716.  He somehow escaped and is on a murderous rampage.  He has bloody hands and blood on his face too.  There are slits in the sleeves, that's how he escaped.  Yikes!
Here they are all dancing around the room.
Mrs. Hinkley's fifth grade class. How scary are they.  Mrs. Hinkley is in the back row.  Can you find her?

Jack-O-Lanterns!

We grew some pretty nice pumpkins in our pumpkin patch this year.  It was fun to watch them take over the back of the yard.  We carved the best into some pretty cool Jack-O-Lanterns!  Jacob just loved getting the 'guts' out of this one.
Spike is doing his as a tribute to Jared's obsession to the New York Yankees.  He used his drimmel to help with the carving.
Mark is pretty darn intent on his carving.  I loved the way it turned out.
This one is mine.  Scary!
Jacob's turned out looking pretty darn evil.  At first he thought is turned out very badly but I told him to wait until we got the candle inside and took it outside.  Cool, very cool.
Mark's turned out way awesome.
Here is Spike's.  I didn't know he has such skill with the drimmel.  He needs to do more art projects!

Happy Halloween!

Here is our house all decorated for Halloween. Jacob was sure that we needed the cornstalks.
Can you guess who this is?
Another view.

Jacob as the headless horseman and Mathew as a dead guy. I can't believe that my Jacob is almost done with his trick or treating days. He has one more year to go. I hope he still wants to dress up. He is a lot of fun. I took Jacob, Mat and Mikal out to do trick or treating for about two hours. They had fun and I got to read a book by flashlight in the car. While up in Joyce's neighborhood I got to stay a while at her house. That was nice.

Halloween Card!

This is so cute. Megan sent it to us. I hope you can open it from here. Jared and Megan are, of course, stunning as their characters. Here is the link. Jacob and I laughed for quite a while. I love the dancing moves I was doing. Ha Ha.
