Jacob's Baseball

 Jacob was doing a bang-up job pitching against a Powell team here.  Overall the season was a great learning experience.  Most of the ten year olds had not had any experience because of how the teams were put together last season.  So this year Jacob got to pitch and play all of the positions.  He sort of got bored when he was out in the field but that didn't happen very much.  Mostly he played first base or short stop.

 I predict he will do just great next year and will continue to learn the game.  He had a great coach this year.  He was extremely patient with our kids.  I don't know how he did it sometimes.  Most of our kids, I swear, were Attention Deficit.  There were probably three who actually knew that the game was being played.  The Pitcher, the catcher and the first baseman.  It was a year that we just left our 'competitive hats' home.

Jacob gets to go to football camp next week.  That should be a new and different experience for him.  He needs to learn the game and how to get along with coaches and other players.  So.....here we go again.

Fun Run!

So this is the family!  All of us in the picture ran in the Ralph Robertson Memorial Fun Run!  This is the first year that Jacob got a medal.  He got third in his age group for the mile run.  Mark won the mile this year!  Woo Hoo for him!  I ran the 5K for the first time in a loooooong time.  It hurt.  I have been doing this low carb thing for so long that I forgot that I would need them for the race.  I felt like I was all out of energy about half way through besides wishing I could stop for a potty break.  All I could think of for the last half of the race was. " I am burning fat, I am burning fat, I am burning fat."  It didn't feel good but I finished with a time of 28.46.  My goal was to do it under 30 minutes so I was happy for that.  There weren't as many people there for the race as there usually is.  I am not sure why, I was just glad that the TV cameras for the Polyg show didn't show up.

Mustang Days!

 Rachael, Eli and Eve came home for Mustang Days this past week.  Somehow or other the only picture I got was of Eve.  She is a beautiful baby.  I can truly say that she looks just like her mother did when she was a baby.  She is such a little fat rabbit.  She feels so good to hug.

 Mark was on the Seminary Float in the parade.  He spent many hours helping Mrs. Crosby to build it too.  It was all about Service, hence, the yellow helping hands T-shirts.  Mark looks like he was working really hard leaning on that shovel.

Jacob got to be on a float also.  Their team didn't win very many games this year but their coach was very nice and got a float together for them to ride on.  I enjoyed the parade very much.

Another big event of the week was that Jacob got to be in the follies singing with other kids in his grade singing some cowboy songs.  They did a great job and I think he enjoyed himself very much. Here is my thoughts for the follies for next year.  Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be in charge but I miss the melodrama! WE have lots of people who are very talented in Lovell so....

Tuesday should be "Lovell's got talent".  Have three judges and before hand let the people tell them if they are just a joke or a real talent.  Give all the real talent people all the points possible and then they all tie and no feelings are hurt.  The people who are joking can have some great dialogue with the judges and there can be audience participation with card prompting helpers.

Wednesday and Thursday can be the Melodrama with the two traditional dance groups, the Dollies and the Rockettes.  I think this idea will actually get more people to come and watch and be involved.  Some people love watching the talent show that the show has become and others really miss the melodrama.  This way everyone can be happy!

Laramie and Baby Connor

I love this picture of Lucas holding baby Connor.  It was so nice to be invited to go down to Laramie to help Lucas and Shanae with their new baby.  Shanae had to have a C-section so they needed some help and her mom was busy with her sisters wedding.  What a sweet little boy.

I stayed pretty busy cooking and cleaning and doing dishes.  I got a few breaks and went shopping with Rachael and I also got to go to one of Brad's little league baseball games where I visited with Mary, Gwen and Randy.  Mostly I was busy with Lucas' puppy Marcie.  She needed to be taken for walks two or three times a day.  Luckily they live really close to Washington Park.  The weather was beautiful except we were invaded by mosquitoes  on the day before I left.

I got another picture taken of me and both Connor and Eve but it is on my camera and not the SD card and I can't find the right connecting cord.  I will put it on as soon as I can.

Girls Camp

 This first picture is of the girls who climbed up on top of a boulder that was outside of our cabins.  This year for our Stake Girls Camp we went to a camp near Red Lodge.  Oh, how much nicer it was!  We usually go up on top of the Big Horns, which is beautiful but....I liked this better.  We didn't have to worry about tents and fires and cooking and buying the groceries or bringing wood.  We had camp cooks and cabins and real toilets and showers.  Very nice.  Our ward helped with the third year certification.  We got to go on their hike which was a long nine miles.  I was a bit sore when Saturday rolled around.

Here we are all together just before we left to go home.  We were ready to go but had a great time.  The Stake theme this year was being a link in the chain and how we really don't want to be the weak link in our chain.  Our ward theme was Charity.  We had some good devotionals about charity and what it really means.  I hope the girls learned something from them, I know I did.

New Baby!

Connor Jackson Grant!

Connor is the son of Lucas and Shanae.  He was born on Thursday afternoon.  We are so glad he is with us.  He weighs 6 pounds and 14 ounces.  I think he has Lucas' cowlick.  How fun is that?  Welcome to the Grant family Connor!

The Garden is In!

 We finally got the garden in and it is only the second week in June.  This has been a very late spring but I think we just got too busy and this was as soon as we could get this done.  The area pictured above is the north west corner of the yard.  This is the first year we put anything there.  I am not sure it will get enough sun.  I put some pumpkins and cucumbers in that little corner.

 The Big Red Building took up a huge chunk of the garden so we just planted around it this year.  To the west of the building are the potatoes and then in front of those are rows and rows of corn, beans, peas and carrots.

We put tomatoes peppers and some squash in this area.  This year we are putting soaker hoses underneath the plastic.  I think this will work well and we won't have puddles for mosquitoes to frolic in.  Here's hoping the garden grows well this year.  I am really, truly hoping that the grasshoppers won't have a heyday in the potatoes.

Four Generations!

WE finally got a picture of our four generations! I love it that we are all girls! Isn't Eve just a cutie pie?!?  We got this taken after Kyle's wedding at the Draper Temple in Utah. It was great to see Rachael and Eve even if was for such a short time.  I wish they lived closer to us.
I had a very quick trip down there and back.  Spike was supposed to go with me but he got way too busy with his calling and his job so I hitched a ride with Mom and Bob on Friday and then came home with Matt and Margaret to Basin.  Spike came and picked me up from there.  I loved driving with Matt and Margaret because I just don't get to visit with my sister enough.  I know she just lives in Burlington but that is just too far away I guess.
The wedding was wonderful.  The dinner afterwards was great.  Gwen did a great job of getting all the things organized and done for all this to happen.
