Oh My Goodness! Catchup 2019 to 2023!

I kind of forgot about this blog. Facebook sort of took over plus I was working and didn’t have time to mess with this. Anyway,,,

Jacob served his mission from 2019 to 2021 in the Milwaukee Wisconsin Mission. He worked hard to serve the Lord. It wasn’t easy since he was out there when Covid hit. One of the huge blessings is that Jared lives in Milwaukee and really kept in touch with Jacob and even took him out to lunch one day. Jacob was in Milwaukee in  his last area and was able to go to Jared house to give a message and while he was there, so was Rachael and her family.

This is only one picture of his time there.

Fast forward 2 years and we have 4 new grandkids. Madelynn, Jesse, Evelyn and Cambrie. Jacob got married the end of May. We will have the reception next Saturday. We are so excited to add Joan to the family.

Catchup 2019

These pictures of the year 2019 are in no particular order. This first one happened in January. Jacob tried out and got selected to go to All-State choir for Wyoming! This is a pretty big deal! Here he is in the middle of them all. So many good things happened for him in 2019. Pretty much that is mostly what you will see here in this post.

Here he is with a bunch of his friends right after graduation. These boys had a great time being together and I have missed them all terribly after graduation. I hope they can get together in a few years and have another party here at the house.

Here is Jacob right after he spoke for his mission farewell. He was called and is serving in the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission. Such a cool place to be.

Ok, so before that happened, Prom Happened. He went with Ashley. They had a great time together.

Here he is at the MTC. He was the district leader.

He and Mat finally got their Eagle Scout Ceremony finished.

The 2019 Christmas tree!

Back to prom!

A momento from Jacobs trip to New York, which I was not invited to come on!

Naomi!

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care!

Jacob, grandma Flash and Rachael!

Seminary graduates!

Jacob on his mission in Madison Wisconsin!

A waterfall up at 5 Springs!

Elder Grant with His first companion!

Regional track! These guys took third in 3A which is pretty awesome! Jacob got all conference in one of his relays! He was also All state! His PR in the 100 was 11.4!

Jacob had a nice season playing basketball. He was number 1 in 3A for blocked shots which is also pretty cool. The bulldogs did not make it to state but came a long way. They beat Powell and we were pretty darn happy about that.

Both Mark and Jacob earned their masters degrees from the University of Wyoming. So proud of these kids!

I am quite happy about this project. This is the Robertson hunting tartan shawl. I get to keep this one although I need to make one for Yo, my new cousin I met on 23 and me.

Here it is getting ready to finish putting it on the loom.

this last summer we put up a big pool in the back yard. We enjoyed it very much. We had the boys all summer long and Rachael came to visit and they all enjoyed it too. We will see if we put it up again or sell it. So far no one will be living with us this summer.

This was a dance where the girl asks the boy. Jacob got asked by a foreign exchange student from Germany. She was a very nice girl and is also very tall.

We had two new babies added to our family. This is a picture of Nolan Hart Grant. He is the son of Mark and Kylie. We also had Corbin Michael Grant, he is the son of Lucas and Shanae.

Ahh. Here is a picture of Jacob giving his valedictorian address at Graduation. This was pretty cool because now LHS takes the GPA and also their ACT scores combined to give the student the ranking in their class. Jacob had a 4.0 and a 31 on the ACT, so there you go. #1!

A picture of Jacob on his mission with a bunch of missionaries!

Jacob with his mission president.

Our family at 5 Springs in the picture tree!

We are just missing Jacob for this Thanksgiving picture! Someday I want a professional picture done!

Christmas 2019! We had Lucas’ family come down from Cody! We are so grateful. We would have had a very quiet morning!

Jacob with his two best friends! Area and Mat!

Here is Alex taking care of Jacob in New York. Cause somebody thought his mother shouldn’t come!

2018 Catch up!

So much has happened in 2019.  Here are some good things that happened...
1. Jacob made it to State track in the 100 and 200 after a very difficult nine months of rehab following yet another knee surgery. This time to replace the shredded ACL.

2. No new babies but it sure was fun to see our grandchildren grow and develop. We have two, Connor and Eve who will get baptized this year.

3. Jacob is a senior. WOW! He had an interesting football season. An injury that left him sidelined for a few weeks. Basketball is much better.  He gets lots of blocked shots and plays some amazing defense. He is working on his offense and a goal is to get more points than blocks. LOL.

4. Flu Season!  Spike and I got the flu just after everyone left after the Christmas break. Whew! I am glad the whole house didn't feel like that.

5 I participated in a spartan race!  It was nine miles and 27 obstacles. Oh man!  Good thing Mark was on our team so he could throw me over all the tall walls.

6. We had an awesome Kilt Party on December 28th. My boys have kilts and no place to wear them so we had a kilt party so they could celebrate their Scottishness.

Naomi Gwenaelle Grant

We have another new baby. Jared and Camille named their new baby girl Naomi Gwenaelle Grant. I love her name. My grandmother is named Gwendolyn and my sister is named Gwen. It is also a name that Camille's dad wanted to name her. Perfect.

We, Jacob, Spike and I, were able to take a trip out to Milwaukee to see this new little family. Milwaukee is a beautiful city! So many clock towers!

My first 1/2 Marathon

I have been trying to not get old and I have been running for the past few years. Last year Rachael and I did a sprint triathlon and survived so in 2017 we did a Half Marathon. We trained and trained and trained. It was lots of fun. So finally we took a huge trip to Utah to run in the Timp Half. Pretty much running down Mt. Timpanogas canyon and into town. 9 miles of pretty intense downhill, which I did not train for. My quads were toast and I lost my big toenails. But... I want to do it again!

After the race we decided to spend the afternoon and evening at Lagoon. Needless to say my step count for the day was awesome!

Hawaii!

Spike and I got to go to Hawaii this year with the Swing Choir. Jacob is a bass in the choir. They did fundraisers all year and since this our last child to go on this adventure we decided to join him. Here are some pictures. I was trying to think of my favorite adventure there and there are just too many. We went snorkeling, climbed diamond head, swam in the ocean, went sailing, went on some tours, enjoyed many buffets, went to pearls harbor, we enjoyed going to church and the list goes on and on. My least favorite part....flying! For some reason I puff up and retain so much water. While we were gone we received word that my nephew passed away. His funeral was scheduled for the day we were to get back. Some very kind friends gave up their seats back to billings from Denver on an earlier flight so that spike and I could get back for the funeral. Jared and Rachael were waiting for us at home. Jared flew in and Rachael drove up from Utah.k

This is the first picture that I took. The kids jumped into the ocean when they first saw it. Clothes and all. This was the first time for many of us to actually play in the ocean.
